Excerpts from Essay - "We Are Still One People," with photographs.

                "We begin then, with the basic premise that the purpose of our life is to seek happiness. It is a vision of happiness as a real objective, one that we can take positive steps toward achieving…We will learn how the search for happiness offers benefits not only for the individual but for the individual's family and for society at large as well."

—His Holiness The Dalai Lama and Howard C. Cutler. M.D.
The Art of Happiness

Under Construction

        "If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it;
          if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy."

—Roy Richard Grinker

The disabilities of many children and adults vary quite distinctively. But society as a whole, psychologically and sociologically processes these irregularities as relatively the same and dismissively.

Under Construction

 It is my belief that the environmental portrait can be revealing, that it can present something from the essence of the subject; and place before us, stirring up, catching, and defining a part of what we are together. It is the mirroring, self-discovery, reflection, and exchange created by looking and thinking, that photographs contain, that is vital to our lives. We are each other. It is that exchange, sometimes clearly and sometimes vaguely felt, that can change us.
